    • Good pick for rail travelers

“Rode into San Diego on Amtrak and this hotel was a pretty easy walk, even for a 50 year old smoker with a heavy bag. Nice clean hotel with good amenities and pleasant staff. The only thing about the place that really annoyed me was the difficulty of getting a cup of coffee after 10 AM. Took me THREE tries to get someone at the bar/restaurant to acknowledge my presence. Not good when you are in need of the caffeine. Yes, a pot was provided in the room - one of those single serving deals that barely gets you out of the bed and down to the lobby. Other than the scarcity of the coffee, it was a great stay.”

    • It could have been better!

“$22.00 for parking PER day, should be per stay, and say so up front. The thermostat should be occupant operational. Other than that very clean and housekeeping personnel were very friendly and helpful.”

    • It was clean and comfortable

“If you wanted to stay downtown or near the cruise boat area, this place is perfect. I thought a bit spendy plus $22 for parking was a bit excessive”

    • Stay at Holiday Inn on the Bay SanDiego

“The stay was very nice. Room was clean and comfortable. The only negative was $22.00/night parking fee. People should know up front that they will have to pay a daily fee to park. ”

    • Hotel Review

“The thermostat did not work the 5 days we were there. hot one night and froze for 5 nights. Maintenence worked on it twice. Staff was pleasant. Also the free shuttle ran only 4 times a day which was not advetised as such in the AAA boook and the Trolley we paid for that was to pick us up at the hotel could not get through American Cup events so we needed to walk to find the trolley. The tickets were sold to us before we were told this.”

“Staff was pleasant and helpfull, room was clean and nice. only drawbacks was expensive parking and no good breakfast place for pancakes ala Ihop in the mornings,at least in walking distance.”

    • Definately not what we expected

“The best part about our stay in this motel was the location only! And I have to say that the motel was clean. Was not aware that there were only double beds in our room until arrival. Our room had only a shower and no bath. Also housekeeping opened the door with only a brief knock and no time to answer telling her that we would be out of the room shortly. Then to fnd out we had to pay an additional fee of $22 per night to park in the parking lot of their motel. ”

    • Disappointed!

“Very disappointed to find full size beds in room. I was not aware of this in advance. Very uncomfortable for my family of 4 as two of our family are tall in stature. Also the additional fee of $22 per day to park in their parking lot was outrageous. That was definately a first for us! No tub in bathroom, only a shower. No rerigerator in room. Also trash in guest laundry smelled horrible!”

    • Thought I was upgrading from Motel 6....

“I stayed in San Diego for 4 nights, the first 2 at Motel 6 on 2nd and then 2 nights at Holiday Inn. To be totaly honest I would have rather just stayed at Motel 6. The staff was nicer and more helpful, free parking permit, I don't remember ever paying $22.00 a day for parking at any hotel I've stayed at.The water pressure (or lack of) was a big problem along with the elevator service at Holiday Inn.”

    • Great Location

“Great location, beds were comfortable, but, the some of the security doors worked some didn't (you didn't need a key), and there was trash on the property (beer cans, whiskey bottle, orange juice containers and fast food wrappers), that had been there awhile, between the parking structure and the hotel, you only have to look down from the hotel room to parking structure to see it. ”

    • ...JUST OKAY...

“Staff was not friendly on our arrival .. no bell or luggage cart to use.. pool was not heated.. small ice box would have been helpful in room... parking charged $22 per day, should be per stay ..Fresh Coffee in lobby to purchase, but girl behind counter very rude and never smiled... not just one day, but all three days we were there.. was everyone having a bad week ????”

    • Beautiful location... That's about it

“When we first entered the room, we noticed there were black hairs on two of our pillow cases. We placed the pillow cases on the floor for the made to pick up the next day, but the pillow cases were simply put back on (hairs and all). Nothing (shampoo, coffee, lotions) was replaced when it was empty. There was also a tray of dirty dishes and food remnants left for over 24 hours just down the hall from us. Our snapshot of time we spent at the Holiday Inn on the Bay revealed terrible customer service; The worst I've ever seen at a hotel. The rooms were nice, but extremely basic (no microwave, no refrigerator, no hot tub by the pool area). Also, plan on paying $22 for parking. In short, if you want to get a taste of San Diego, but don't care too much about hotel accommodations, this is your place. If you're particular at all about where you stay, you'll likely be very disappointed.”

    • Rug pulled out from under us...

“We had made plans to stay at this hotel for one night on each end of a week-long mission trip into Mexico. On the way down we stayed on a Friday and the stay was relaxing and enjoyable. We'd arranged to park our van at the hotel while on our mission trip because our mission group had contracted to stay at this hotel upon returning to the states. Much to our surprise the hotel canceled our group's reservations only days before we were due to return, so our group had to make other arrangements (for over a hundred people). I then had to arrange for transportation from the "new" hotel to HISDOTB to pick up our van. HISDOTB had offered to reimburse me for the week's parking to offset some cost and hassle. That was a noble gesture I think, but thus far I've only gotten the run-around. We'll see if the hotel really comes through on the commitment. The rating would have been a 4, but the less-than-stellar customer service related to the poor (in my opinion) commercial decision dropped it to a 2.”
