The city of Bangkok, Thailand, is dubbed as “Venice of the East” because of the numerous canals and waterways crisscrossing through it. Also, these canals feature plenty of colorful floating markets that are perfect destinations for shopping and simply enjoying the attraction. In fact, travelers should try to board at least one of these floating markets to complete their trip to Bangkok. Also, the city is home to some of the largest shopping malls in Asia so that there is a wealth of goods and products that travelers can enjoy buying in Bangkok. The city is considered to be one of the best shopping destinations in Asia especially with the presence of a lot of tax-free outlets, a must-visit city when it comes to retail and boutique shopping.
Even back in the earliest days of Bangkok, the temples had been significant structures that the residents and visitors go to on a regular basis. In fact, at the time when the villages and homes had been made of wood, the temples were already grand and made of stone. Today, there are more than 400 temples in Bangkok, most of these are richly decorated and have various statues and representations of Buddha. It is impossible for tourists to visit and explore all these temples even if they stay for a month. Thus, it is best to pick the most popular and grand ones, namely, Wat Pho, Wat Arun, and Wat Phra Kaew at the Grand Palace. Wat Phra Kaew is the temple complex considered the most sacred in Thailand, housing the most sacred image of Buddha, the Emerald Buddha.
Visitors of the Grand Palace are entitled to free entrance at the Dusit Palace. Khao San Road is a great destination, a place where locals and tourist congregate. Other popular places to visit include Jim Thompson’s House, Phra Sumen Fort, the National Museum, and Lumphini Park.
