With a location along Monterey Bay, the city of Monterey is truly one of the most scenic and favorite destinations in California. Plenty of activities can be enjoyed by travelers in this side of the Pacific Ocean, especially since there are several wharfs where varied boats dock, for fun or serious work. It is easy to find boats to charter for sports fishing or enjoy cruises around the bay. The coasts of city offers some of the most scenic in the state, with the coasts ranging from calm ones to those with rocky shores that continue to hold appeal to tourists.
With the city having about 28.03% of water, it is easy to see why there are plenty of attractions to visit that involve these waters. One of the best destinations in the city is the Monterey Bay Aquarium which offers various exhibits of local sea life. Monterey Bay is also perfect for enjoying various activities, including sailing trips and cruising. Tourists need not spend a lot to enjoy the best of Monterey as even visiting the wharfs offers them a glimpse of the city’s sea life, especially the sea lions who love to bask in these wharfs. There are also public beaches all over the city, offering various facilities for visitors as well.
Of course, Monterey is not just about the waters as there are also other options available to tourists. Some of the favorite destinations in the city are the Dennis the Menace Park which is a giant kid’s park, the Monterey State Historic Park in the downtown area, and the Pacific House Museum which features not just local history but also Native American exhibits. Other options include the Monterey Museum of Art, Presidio of Monterey Museum, Monterey County Fairgrounds, and the Laguna Seca Raceway.
