Ciudad Juarez is a lively and colorful place, the seat of the municipality of Juárez. Although it really has a reputation for being a dangerous city, it is surprisingly one of the fastest growing cities in the world. Also, long-time residents and expats would tell you that Ciudad Juarez is not really as dangerous as it is depicted in novels, movies, news, and TV documentaries. Of course, when traveling to this side of the world, always heed warnings and practice common sense. Follow travel advisories as well and proceed with caution. Once there, enjoy as much as possible. After all, this border city is also known to be the Gateway to Mexico.
Ciudad Juarez has its fair share of interesting places to visit, indoors and outdoors. Centro Escolar Revolución dates back to 1939. This features a bust of President Lázaro Cárdenas who had commissioned the project. Perhaps one of the most intruding of these is the Misión de Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe which dates back to the 17th century and is the oldest standing building in the city. It is also a good idea to visit landmarks like the Auditorio Civico Benito Juárez, Estadio Olímpico Benito Juárez, the Chaveña Fountain, Antigua Presidencia Municipal, and Centro Cívico Paso del Norte.
When it comes to having fun with the entire family, Parque Central (Central Park) is a good destination because it features a lot of recreation options. Of course, Parque Xtremo is one of the greatest destinations in Ciudad Juarez. This is a fun place to visit for the entire family but is also frequented by touring groups and friends. Visitors to the city can enjoy drinking or shopping at the bars and shops along Avenida Juárez.
