Well, today, the city of Natick is not mostly comprised of hills but the original settlement was. This is the reason why the city got the name “Natick” which means “place of the hills”, a term used by the Massachusett tribe. Still, even when the city has expanded several times more than the area it originally was, it had retained the name. When exploring the city, don’t worry about strolling and hiking – those are quite easy to do.
There really is so much that tourists will find interesting in Natick. Even the church buildings hold much interest, such include Eliot Church, Chabad Center in Natick, and the Temple Israel of Natick. When in Natick, don’t forget to ask directions to see the Station Tree. This 500-year old oak tree has long been used as a landmark by surveyors to determine the boundary of the city. Another interesting must-visit attraction is the Natick Community Organic Farm. The farm offers free admission. Fresh farm products are also sold there.
When it comes to 10-stool diners, Casey’s Diner is among the oldest in operation in the US. When in Natick, don’t forget to try their famous steamed hotdogs. Natick Collection is also a popular landmark to visit because of the many shops that one can find there. Don’t forget to bring cash or credit card as there is bound to be something irresistible to find there. Try to check for shows and performances at the former Central Fire Station, a historic landmark worth visiting. The Center for Arts in Natick (TCAN) is operating in that historic building. The venue has played host to various performances, including community programs, children’s shows, and even those by renowned artists.
