Sure, you’ve laughed your head off at movie scenes when dumb blondes pack extra suitcases for vacation trips; but then there’s a universal truth to be learned from this erstwhile joke because packing smart and packing a complete but manageable luggage requires art and skill.
Before you begin packing for summer vacation, make sure you inquire about the activities in store for you once you reach your vacation destination. Will there be plenty of bar nights, or outdoor events? Will you have to attend some formal dinners? These are essential things you must know so that you can determine what goes inside your suitcase. Once you determine what you’ll end up doing during your vacation time, write a checklist of things you need. Without a list to refer to, you would undoubtedly be lost while packing your things.
Start packing!
The very first thing to do is to pack essential items. These include airline tickets, passport, wallet, IDs, cash and credit cards, travelers’ checks, photocopies of flight and accommodation confirmations, maps, guidebooks, and telephone emergency numbers.
In packing your clothes, make sure that everything that could be mixed and matched. Bring clothing made of light and washable fabric. Bring only one pair of shoes, a pair that matches all the clothes you brought with you. Scratch off bulky and useless items from your list. Pack your toiletries in one handy bag that you could pull out every time you need to wash up or refresh yourself.
Bring an extra bag for things you’d pick up during your vacation. After all, shopping is always on top of every vacationer’s list.
