Kansas City in Missouri shares the designation as the Heart of America with Kansas City in Kansas. Well, this nickname is used because the cities are not just at the geographical center of all the 48 contiguous states but is also the population center of the US. These two cities are often abbreviated to KC, though the term is mostly used to mean the metropolitan areas. On its own, Kansas City in Missouri is also called as the City of Fountains owing to more than 200 fountains found all over the city, with Kansas City coming in second to Rome in this record. Then, it is also called as the Paris of the Plains owing to having more boulevards than other cities in the world but except Paris.
Residents and visitors to Kansas City can have fun in the city, with various recreation options spread across the city, including 30 swimming pools, 214 urban parks, 105 tennis courts, 47 park shelters, and 132 miles of parkways and boulevards. The most popular among these parks is the Swope Park, twice as big as Central Park in New York City and is among the largest parks in the US. Kansas is HOMEPeople wonder why Dorothy kept saying, “There is no place like home?” and in Kansas no less! Well, Kansas is home. Kansas is this really nice place that is also fun for new comers.
One of our newest features is the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts. It just opened and its like this mixture of music, theatre, dance, and opera for everybody. According to the news, it was just a sketch before it became a massive structure.
We also have a slew of food festivals and festivals in general during Fall, so if you visit Kansas City in the Fall, you can assure yourself that you will have a fantastic time.
Before you leave Kansas in the Fall, make sure you check out the pumpkin patches and perhaps even make a Jack o’ Lantern while you’re at it.
I highly recommend the Renaissance Festival. Guest submitted photos ![]()
