Tips for a Safe Orlando Vacation

Vacationing in a big city like Orlando can arouse safety issues especially when you bring along your children with you. Every year, nearly 50 million people visit Orlando and many unscrupulous people could not pass the chance of taking advantage of them to earn easy money. Although crimes are not preventable, with common sense and alertness, you will at least have a good chance of enjoying a safe Orlando vacation.

When choosing a hotel, it is best recommended to pick a reputable hotel known to value the safety of its guests. Invasions and thefts in Orlando do occur especially in open-air motels and small inns where security is not that sound.

Before heading out for a day of sightseeing, remember to dress simply and to keep your valuable items including money and other documents at the hotel. Be wary when visiting attractions because as a tourist, you most likely would be a prime candidate for crime. Staying together at all times is a good tip since criminals avoid bigger groups. When parking, avoid isolated areas, and do not become inebriated because drunks are easily taken advantage of.

Take note of areas that are most commonly spots for crimes such as the Parramore District, Pine Hills ad Orange Blossom Trail. Avoid these areas as much as possible because they are normally the hub of criminal activities like prostitution and robbery.

When you have brought your children along with you, keep them at your sides always. Do not leave them unattended in pools and do not leave them inside the car for a long time as the heat can be suffocating.

Also remember that Orlando has a pretty unpredictable weather. During summer, temperatures can become so hot that you would need to wear a hat or bring an umbrella, and apply lots of sunscreen. Thunderstorms can also be quite common from June to September. During these times, it is advised to remain indoors as fatalities caused by lightning are quite high in Florida.
