Set along the banks of Lake Erie as well as the mouth of the Niagara River, Buffalo is, indeed, one of the cities with the best location in the state of New York. Its name is thought to come from “beau fleuve”, the French term for “beautiful river”. It is known for being the “Queen City of the Lakes” or simply “The Queen City”. Queens could have a lot of names, right? Well, this one has, anyway. Some of its other names include the “City of Light”, “The City of No Illusions”, “The Nickel City”, and The City of Good Neighbors. All these names the city had acquired because of diverse circumstances.
Traveling to Buffalo is always a fun adventure. It is best known for its winters, with a myth going that it is the snowiest city in the country. Well, that is not the case, really, but many travelers try to avoid visiting the city during winter. Still, those who wish to see the city in its winter coat happily brave the snowfall and blizzards for adventure and fun, perhaps.
Being part of the Buffalo-Niagara Falls metropolitan area, there is so much that one can do and enjoy in Buffalo. You can do just about anything imaginable there: have fun exploring the art galleries or trace history in the many historic sites and museums across the city. Interested in sports and outdoor fun? Then, there’s just so much to visit. Check out Martin's Fantasy Island, Buffalo Zoo, or the Tifft Nature Preserve.
