Walk among legends in historical Quincy

Quincy presents historical charm, being the birthplace of two presidents of America While the ancestral home of John Adams and John Quincy Adams is the major tourist draw, Quincy has more historical offerings up for grabs.

The modest architecture of the Quincy Farmhouse belies the grandeur that is attached to the structure. The second US President John Adams was born in this simple wooden New England home, which was also the birthplace of the Massachusetts constitution. Right beside it is the more stately home that served as the birthplace of the sixth US President, John Quincy Adams. These historic houses are an important part of the town’s tourist trail.

All about the Adams

Find out more about the illustrious family who gave the town its national renown. Other heritage sites related to the Adams name is Peacefields, the family homestead where John Adams retired after his presidency. You will also see the Stone Library along with the Old House inside the sprawling Adams National Historical Park. Lastly, the church at the center of Quincy, was also a major feature in the history of the town. United First Parish Church is the resting place of both presidents and other family members.

More of New England’s legacy

There are yet more prominent attractions that visitors should not miss in Quincy. Hancock Cemetery was an integral burial ground for the Colony. Another architectural highlight is the Thomas Crane Public Library. Other historical attractions include the Adams Academy Society, the Dorothy Quincy Homestead, the birthplace of John Hancock and the Josiah Quincy House.

Relax in Marina Bay

As the sun sets in Quincy, there can only be one place you would want to be in. The scenic Marina Bay has plenty of dining selections to both locals and visitors who want to enjoy the picturesque waterfront scenery. Dine among the stars or take in the lively vibe inside any of the restaurants serving local specialties to please your palate.

history in a bundle

Many people come to Quincy because it is the place where John Adams and John Quincy Adams were born. However, they often find themselves pleasantly surprised when they discover that there is more to Quincy than just the historical birthplace of two presidents.

True enough, Quincy borders on the historical side of attractions. You have buildings like the Quincy Farmhouse for one, that shows the style and creativity of its maker. But you will also see that this is not the only town that has this unique architecture.

If you ever do drop by Quincy, make sure you spend one sunset in the marina. You will not regret it!

A little bit of history here and there

When I first came to Quincy, it was a move that was meant to educate my sons on a little bit of history. We did not need to travel really far because we live just a few hours away. I must say that I, myself, was surprised with the things that you can find in Quincy that is not history related! Sure, I mean a lot of the themes in the area are historic but its still has its own charm, if you know what I mean. One of the places that we visited was the Adams National Historical Park. The other was the Hancock Cemetery. For a little fun, we were able to dine at some of the shops in the area, and my boyfriend was able to enjoy a bit at the Granite Links Golf Club.
